Appointments at AAIPharma, AMRI and Icon – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma outsourcing sector, including appointments at AAIPharma, AMRI and Icon.

AAIPharma Services​ has promoted Dan Shirazi​ to vice president (VP), analytical development. Shirazi joined AAIPharma as a senior scientist in 1992 and has since been promoted a number of times.

Peter Hansbury​ has joined AMRI​ as VP of aseptic services. The position gives Hansbury leadership of the aseptic fill and finish facility in Burlington, Massachusetts. In his 30 years working in sterile products Hansbury has held positions Ben Venue Laboratories and LyphoMed.

Icon ​has strengthened its medical imaging unit by promoting Kornelia Martin​ to VP, European operations. Martin joined the medical imaging unit at Icon in January 2009 having previously worked at Focus Clinical Drug Development, Synarc and Baxter.

Also, Icon has made two appointments to boost its Asia Pacific team. Malcolm Burgess​ has been named EVP, Asia Pacific, and Paula Mumby​ has been hired as VP, operations, Asia Pacific for the resourcing business unit at Icon.

Burgess joined Icon in 2002 after a career spent at Novartis, Hoechst Marion Roussel and SmithKline Beecham. Mumby has previously worked at i3 Pharma Resourcing and CSL.

Dennis Schmatz ​has joined Scynexis ​as a strategic advisor for anti-infectives. Scynexis is developing an internal pipeline and provides contract research services. Schmatz last worked as CEO of non-profit Medicines for Malaria Venture

Asymchem Life Science ​has hired Robert Andrews ​as VP of quality assurance. Andrews has 18 years of pharmaceutical experience from working at Banner Pharmacaps, TSI Health Services and Pridecraft Enterprises.

David Neu​ has been promoted to the position of president of AmerisourceBergen Drug Corporation. ​Neu succeeds Steven Collis​ who will become CEO following the retirement of David Yost​ on July 1 2011.
