Parexel has introduced a new ecosystem of integrated data-driven services as the industry looks to gain better insights from myriad information sources.

Sitting down at the DIA 2017 Annual Meeting, Sy Pretorius, MD, chief scientific officer at Parexel said the company is seeing a big need for integrating data into a standardized format, "so you can run powerful analytics to get insights,” he told us.

According to Pretorius, big data is one of the key trends and main themes of this year’s meeting, which is taking place this week in Chicago, IL.

In the past these data sources … were very much siloed,” explained Pretorius. “To get any sort of integrated insight out of it required a ton of manual work.”

Parexel has now invested is in making that integration more seamless, he said.

We’ve created an ecosystem where we’re able to integrate a broad spectrum of data from very disparate sources and leverage insights through analytics and visualizations to help our clients develop better drugs faster … and also in a more affordable way,” explained Pretorius.

The new ecosystem, dubbed the Connected Journey, is powered by Parexel Analytics capabilities and consists of more than 40 data-driven services, including its ForeSite clinical trial methodology, which integrates real-time analytics technology and centralized oversight to help predict site productivity.

According to the company, the new ecosystem enables it to derive insights that in the end, translate to faster development and overall cycle time.
