In June global drug giant Pfizer began what it described as the world’s first ‘virtual trial’ using mobile technology to collect data from patients in their own homes rather than at research sites.

This study, which is assessing Detrol LA as treatment for overactive bladder, uses techs provided by a number of partners, including Perceptive Informatics, Exco In-touch and Greenphire who Outsourcing-pharma.com spoke with at DIA 2011.

Kyle Flickinger from Perceptive, Neil Rotherham from Exco Intouch and Samuel Whitaker from Greenphire explained how the trial will operate, set out their specific roles in the project and shared their thoughts on the virtual trial model’s wider potential.
